Hanoi [Vietnam], April 17: On her personal page, actress Viet Trinh attracted attention by posting a video sharing about her battle with depression. The star of the film " Ngoc trong da" (Jade in the Stone) revealed that she has been undergoing treatment for three years. At one point, she thought she was cured and stopped taking medication, but then relapsed.

According to Viet Trinh, her depression stems from several causes. One of them is the nature of her work. Additionally, during her pregnancy and childbirth, the actress experienced excessive stress and anxiety. Regarding her decision to share her current situation with the public, Viet Trinh believes that if she doesn't accept and confront her depression, it will be very difficult to treat.
Viet Trinh revealed that she previously refused to accept her depression, even though her symptoms contradicted her own desires. At one point, any unusual bodily symptoms would cause her anxiety, forcing her to visit the hospital for reassurance. "Sometimes I went to the doctor three times a week, and I couldn't sleep well any night. I was so worried, I couldn't eat properly, and I lost so much weight that I weighed only 48-49kg," she recalled.
Even when advised by her doctor to seek treatment for depression, Viet Trinh was quite angry because she didn't understand why she was being told that. However, when she realized her symptoms were getting worse, she went for a check-up and received advice on medication. In addition, the actress also combined exercise, a balanced diet, and reconnecting with nature.
"Many people have commented that I post videos of myself eating few vegetables and exercising, yet I'm still overweight. But the side effects of the medication have made me rounder. So if I don't go back to dieting, I'll get even fatter. Since getting sick, I've gained from 49kg to 63kg. Getting back to my fifty-something-kilogram weight like when I was an actress is difficult; it will only be possible when I stop taking the medication," the actress from "The Beauty of Tay Do" expressed. In addition, maintaining a cheerful spirit is something Viet Trinh always prioritizes. "When I'm depressed, it's very hard for me to find a smile," she said.
In her journey battling depression, Viet Trinh believes that the understanding of loved ones is crucial. This helps those suffering from the illness avoid feeling hurt, lonely, or causing their condition to worsen.
"If there is someone in the family suffering from depression, I hope everyone will understand, sympathize, and comfort them. When the depression is at its lowest point, don't react negatively, but instead offer comfort and love," she advised.
Viet Trinh, born in 1972, was once a "box office star" thanks to her beautiful looks and natural acting style. She made her mark through a series of roles in films such as "Ngoc trong da" (Jade in the Stone), "Nguoi dep Tay Do" (The Beauty of Tay Do), and "Xuong rong den" (Black Cactus)... Later, Viet Trinh also tried her hand at directing and producing television and film. In 2022, the actress announced her retirement, surprising her fans.
