Hanoi [Vietnam], March 5: In the released images, Quoc Truong's face is cold and calculating, his gaze controlling and calculating, skillfully portraying a character with many hidden psychological complexities. For her part, Tieu Vy appears with a deliberately contrasting image: a fragile, gentle exterior, but her eyes and body language conceal tension and wariness. Her character carries multiple layers of emotion, simultaneously yearning for love and torn apart by secrets.
Details revealed about Quoc Truong and Tieu Vy's roles.
The contrasting gesture of Tiểu Vy placing one hand on Quốc Trường's neck while the other holds a broken glass hidden behind her back further intensifies the suspense and foreshadows the potential tragedy surrounding them on screen. This also serves as the first hint at the mysterious "love-hate" relationship that both characters are concealing.
The climactic scene is a moment when Quoc Truong and the mysterious girl are intimate in the darkness; the light is only enough to outline the features of both their faces, but it powerfully conveys a message about toxic love, possessiveness, and the dark side of human psychology, in line with director Dinh Tuan Vu's pursuit of exploring the depth of inner emotions.
Sharing her thoughts on returning to the big screen after the "Four Evil Spirits" series, Tieu Vy said that having another film role is like having another life to live to the fullest, with joy, sadness, pain, and even unnameable pressures.
The 10X beauty expressed: "Filmmaking isn't simply about glamorous shots on screen. There are scenes where I have to struggle with my own emotions. But thanks to that, I've learned to be a little more resilient, a little more profound, and understand the character more," she confided.
Through her fresh image in "The Hermit Crab ," Tieu Vy hopes that people will embrace her on a new journey. The Miss Vietnam 2018 expressed: "This time, it's not the familiar Tieu Vy, but a Tieu Vy who dares to try, dares to make mistakes, and dares to grow."
Previously, Quoc Truong and Tieu Vy caused a stir among audiences with their romantic interactions when appearing together at events, raising expectations of a sweet and attractive couple on the big screen. However, the first images from the film surprised viewers as the sweetness gave way to a sense of danger and mystery, sparking much speculation about the story behind it.
Besides Quoc Truong and Tieu Vy, "Borrowed Shell" also features a cast including Anh Pham, Luong Gia Huy, Yen Dan, Xuan An, Tram Ngo, Nguyen Phi Long, Thanh Phuong. Directed by Dinh Tuan Vu, the film is scheduled to be released on June 5, 2026.
