Seoul [South Korea], December 27: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent a New Year's greeting in response to a card from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim described the past year as a "meaningful" one, in which Pyongyang and Moscow have continuously strengthened their alliance through mutual support and close solidarity.
Kim Jong-un stated that the relationship between the two countries is a "precious shared asset" that needs to be preserved for the long term. He emphasized that the North Korea-Russia relationship has been cultivated into the "most sincere alliance, sharing blood and bones, life and death in the same trenches," alluding to North Korea's deployment of troops to support Russia in the war in Ukraine .
The North Korean leader asserted that no force can break the bond between the peoples of the two countries, which is built on strong political will and shared goals.
Earlier, on December 25, TASS, citing a KCNA report, said that Russian President Putin had sent a New Year's greeting card to Kim Jong-un. In the card, sent on December 18, Putin stated that the past year had been particularly significant in the relationship between the two sides.
The Russian leader welcomed the support of North Korean soldiers in regaining control of the Kursk province, as well as the activities of North Korean forces on Russian soil.
"I am confident that in the future, we will also strengthen our friendly relations and alliance in all aspects and conduct constructive cooperation on regional and international issues," Putin emphasized in his congratulatory message. "This will certainly be in line with the fundamental interests of the people of our two countries and will contribute to establishing a just order for a multipolar world," he added.
